MEMBERSHIP EXPLAINED
Membership is awarded based on:
- Title of the Qualification on NQF
- Workplace Experience / Experiential Learning / Practical Experience / Internship
- The passing of a COUNCIL Board Examination or Competency Assessment (RPL is required by COUNCIL for all individuals who don't fully comply)
- Registration with the COUNCIL as in accordance with the categories stated below.
- The designation of a Sexual Health Professional in South Africa is subjected to the constitution of the COUNCIL FOR SEXUAL HEALTH PROFESSIONS NPC
Category A
Sexologists, Therapists of Sexuality, Counsellors of Sexuality, Students of Sexology (Members of CSHP)

Related Sexual Health Practitioners. Related professions such as medical doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, pastoral-and other counsellors, educators, lawers etc. All these professionals must be registered with their wosn relevant profesional body AND additionally with the CSHP if they have anything professionally to do with sexual counselling, -therapy, -education, -evaluation, -behaviour modification, -consultation etc.

The CSHP advocates a self-regulated Sexual Health Industry Members of the industry may now apply for affiliated membership. Both Organizations or Individuals may apply.

the Professional designation of a Sexual Health Professional
- Practicing according to the Code of Conduct, Policies and/or By-Laws and the Constitution
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Membership of the COUNCIL and the paying of yearly membership fees
- Any additional requirements from COUNCIL as in the Policies and/or By-Laws that may be added
- Any Sexologist's registration with the COUNCIL can be removed and/or reinstated by the COUNCIL according to the Constitution, Disciplinary Policy and By-Laws of the COUNCIL with the right of appeal
